CODE OF CONDUCT
That is important to us.
Status: April 2023
Experiencing social discrimination can lead to significant health impairments. As we want to promote physical and mental health, this includes dealing with the various areas of such forms of discrimination. For example, the development of an anti-racist attitude.
To this end, we regularly undergo further training in the form of workshops and supervision.
We assume that all people who wish to work in the House of Birth and Health are obliged to undergo further training in this area.
We want the Haus für Geburt und Gesundheit to be a space for all people, regardless of their social background. Our rooms should be a place free of discrimination and hierarchies as far as possible. This is only possible if everyone who works here knows and understands our values and behaviours and supports them.
In the event of a discriminatory situation, it is important to us to give space exclusively to the perspective of the person affected.
We are aware that we will never be able to fulfil our goal of being a non-discriminatory institution one hundred percent.
Our code of conduct
- We treat everyone as equals and with respect.
- We use inclusive language and condemn any kind of discriminatory language.
This includes not questioning a person's origin, sexual orientation or social class.
- Racist behaviour will not be tolerated. This includes racist attributions and the exclusion of people on the basis of skin colour, language, religion or refugee experience.
- Everyone is an expert on their own body. We do not judge people based on external characteristics.
- Physical boundaries are observed. Before each examination is carried out, consent is obtained and it is explained exactly what will be done and what the consequences of the examination will be.
- The privacy of every individual is protected.
- We recognise and respect the uniqueness of every person. Each person alone decides on their own identity. We assume a non-binary gender order and the social roles and behavioural attributions associated with it.
- An intersectional, feminist attitude is important to us. For us, intersectional feminism means that the realities of life of different people are taken into account and not just those that are emphasised in a white majority society.
- We use gender-sensitive language.
- We see ourselves as Allys from LgbtqIa+
Thank you for taking the time to familiarise yourself with our Code of Conduct.tion. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact any of the midwives in the collective and/or the organisational management.
Your well-being is important to us!
If you have experienced discrimination, boundary violations or physical or psychological violence during appointments, births or courses at our centre, we would like you to approach us so that we can talk together about what happened and, if necessary, take further steps. These steps are exclusively consensual.
Spoken words are always received differently. Our aim is to make it clear that the sender can never determine what is heard by the recipient.
You can contact the midwives at the birth centre at any time.
