PELVIC FLOOR CHECK-UP

What is a pelvic floor check-up?

The pelvic floor check-up is aimed at patients with pelvic floor problems, especially after pregnancy or, for example, before returning to sport. It helps to prevent long-term consequences such as incontinence or pelvic organ prolapse and provides answers to questions about sport after childbirth, for example.
The check-up begins with a detailed anamnesis interview to take a holistic view of the patient and her body. This is followed by a personalised physiotherapy assessment, including tests and, if necessary, a vaginal or rectal examination.

The physiotherapist assesses the functionality of the pelvic floor muscles in terms of relaxation, control, tone, endurance, responsiveness and strength.
In addition, an ultrasound device is used to visually check the effectiveness of pelvic floor utilisation. The results are analysed and a therapy plan is drawn up to achieve the desired therapeutic goals. Based on the findings, the physiotherapeutic measures are discussed and, if desired, a home exercise programme is put together.
