What has happened so far... PART VI

This is the last blog that will bear the title: “Let's found a birth centre!” because: WE HAVE FOUNDED A BIRTH CENTRE!

The House for Birth and Health is officially open!!!

Summary:
First meeting in September 2019, finding a team, founding the association in summer 2020, founding the partnership company in summer 2021, contract for the house including the start of the conversion in October 2021, mega conversion spurt until January 2022 and lo and behold - it's done!!!!

We are overjoyed, overwhelmed and have gained a few more experiences in life. The entire start-up phase under pandemic conditions, which once again threw a spanner in the works, especially during the final spurt. But we didn't let it get us down, overcame crises with flying colours and became a real team.

On the whole, the conversion went well, even if it did bring a few surprises (as befits a decent conversion). Of course, furnishing the rooms was the icing on the cake and a lot of fun.

The inspection by the health authorities turned out to be a little more time-consuming than expected, but in retrospect it is of course a very good feeling to be able to fulfil all the requirements (including the absence of legionella, hurrah!).

From now on, check-ups and postnatal appointments will take place at the Haus für Geburt und Gesundheit. We will also be starting our course planning soon and the Midwife outpatient clinics take place in Hamm and Rothenburgsort (Rothenburgsort Parents' School). We are helping to train students, finally have a fixed location for our team meetings and are continuing to refine the concept and structure of the health centre.

And yes! the first birth centre baby is already here! ...and so now it has really hit us: we have done it, we have founded a birth centre - unbelievable and yet real! These moments: opening the door for the couple at night and seeing them off the next evening (yes, this woman is a real superhero!) with the baby back home, wow... words fail us. Gugiisreal!

We are infinitely proud and very grateful for the support of the many kind people and companions who have motivated and supported us. In many different ways: with time, patience, encouragement, encouragement, understanding, expertise and, of course, money. Thank you thank you thank you!
